Fort McKavett Volunteer Fire Fighter's Training
In the fall of 2018, the Texas A&M Forest Service awarded our department with an $8,000 grant for the purpose of purchasing training materials. Using the grant funds we were able to purchase a 2018 Lenovo business laptop. It features a 15.6" anti-glare touchscreen; an Intel 8th Gen i5-8250U quad-core processor; 12GB of DDR4 RAM; a 1TB hard drive; a read/write DVD player; a webcam; and HDMI Dolby sound. We were also able to purchase an Epson EX5260 XGA HDMI 3LCD projector. This projector features 3,600 lumens of color brightness (color light output) and 3,600 lumens of white brightness (white light output). It has built in wireless communications. We also bought a large projection screen for our training room. We also have a DVD library of fire fighting training videos which includes the following:
Vehicle Extraction (10 DVD series)
Fire Control 1
Fire Control 2
Firefighter Safety Part 1
Firefighter Safety Part 2
SCBA 1 Introduction
SCBA 2 Use and Maintenance
Fire Prevention and Public Education
In addition to the training videos and projection equipment, we have a training dummy for teaching rescue operations and a smoke machine to simulate fire conditions.
Chief Mazac will be scheduling training sessions shortly.
